UPDATE FROM THE SCHOOL NURSE
Greater than 65% of our current 6th graders are not up to date with the vaccines they will need to enter 7th grade!
Did you know that your 6th grader needs 3 more shots as they enter the 7th grade?
They are as follows:
• Tdap: 1 dose within the last 5 yrs
• Varicella: 2 total doses needed
• Meningococcal (MCV): 1 dose
• Human Papillomavirus (HVP)
Vaccine letters will be provided to those students in need of vaccines on Monday, May 12th.
Has your child already received these vaccines? If so, please send a copy of their immunization record to the health office ASAP. A copy of the record may also be faxed to: 512-467-6862 or emailed to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
If your child has not had these vaccines and you would like help obtaining them, please call the health office.

ATHLETIC AWARDS CEREMONIES
The 7th grade Athletic Awards Ceremony is Thursday May 22nd from 2:45 to 3:30. The 8th grade ceremony is Friday May 23rd from 1:55 to 2:40
JR VASE RESULTS
The Visual Arts Department would like to congratulate all of the students who attended the regional JR. VASE competition this past Saturday! Students were judged on animation, photography, sculpture and 2d work. 134 entries from Lamar won 1st place/score of 4.
20 of those entries received best in show /Silver Seals.
Out of 36 schools and 650 entries Lamar took home 1/2 of the top scores/Silver Seals
Best of show artwork will be on display in the library for students, staff and parents to view.

We will be displaying work that scored a 3 or 4 during our Lamarte Art Auction at the Umlauf Sculpture garden Thursday, May 22nd from 7-9pm. GREAT WORK ARTISTS!
AISD ORCHESTRA SOLO AND ENSEMBLE CONTEST
Congratulations to the orchestra members who participated in the AISD solo and ensemble contest last Saturday - they all represented Lamar very well!

AISD GUITAR SOLO AND ENSEMBLE CONTEST

MCCALLUM ROBOTICS SUMMER CAMP
The McCallum Robotics Team is sponsoring its annual summer camp for middle school students. Our camp session is from June 16th through 20th, 9am to 4pm at McCallum. The cost is $250 for the week. The camp is for students entering grades 5 through 9 and uses the Lego NXT Mindstorms system, like Lamar’s robotics class. CIS PROGRAM DONATIONS
CIS ( Community in Schools) is in need of the following items to restock their supply:
* Spiral notebooks
* Backpacks for boys & girls
* Healthy snacks
* HEB and/or Wal-Mart gift cards (to be used for gas and/or groceries)
Due to the CIS agency and school policy regarding confidentiality, we cannot disclose who receives the donations. I can assure you that the families we offer this support to are requesting help and have the needs. It’s been very helpful to have the teachers, counselors and community members such as yourself let us know who might need help. We follow up with the families, explain the process to ensure they want the assistance and we collect an accurate description of needs. If you have any questions about this process please let me know. If you’d like to forward this onto Lamar parents, please do so. For donations such as gift cards, furniture, etc I can send the information to our main CIS office. A tax exempt receipt is sent to the donor from our main office.

VASE FROM UMLAUF SCULPTURE DEDICATION

UMLAUF SUMMER CAMP
We are offering summer camp at the UMLAUF for the first time in a long time. We are really excited about this new program and I am hoping you can help me get the word out.

MCCALLUM CO-ED BASKETBALL SUMMER CAMP
June 16th-June 19th, 9 a.m. to noon.

Our State Championship Winter Guard needs your help and support. We are selling discount cards for $10. The cards are valid for 1 full year!
